Seattle. The Emerald City. Queen City. Rain City. The Jet City. And my favorite city. I will admit I was a Seattle hater before I visited for the first time. I didn’t understand why people were so in love with a city where it constantly rained and didn’t have a beach. I didn’t know about the rich culture and history. I didn’t know about the industry and the hub of innovation. I didn’t know about the endless food options and unique nightlife. Everything changed about two years ago when I visited for the first time.
If you were to ask me, there is no way I would be able to pinpoint one specific thing that I love so much. I remember visiting for the first time and being overwhelmed by how many amazing things the city has to offer. When I really force myself to think about it, I break it down into a few categories.
This one is fairly obvious, with Starbucks being founded there and all of that. But there are approximately a million other amazing coffee shops in Seattle as well. You pretty much can’t walk more than a quarter mile without running into a new coffee shop. Cafe Ladro and Roy Street Coffee are a couple of my favorites and I’ll share more of my go to spots next week on my Seattle guide!
The thing I love about the food scene in Seattle is how broad it is. The sushi is amazing. The pizza is to die for. The healthy options are incredible. And don’t even get me started on the dessert selections. I love that you can eat a different type of food for every meal and they will all be amazing meals.
And by nightlife, I mean bars. So. Many. Amazing. Bars. Like the food scene, the bar scene varies as well. No matter what mood you are in, what vibe you are looking for or what the occasion is, you will be able to find the perfect spot. Rachel’s Ginger Beer is a great place to start!
As in there are a million museums and other sights to see. From the Space Needle to Pike Place Market to Chihuly Gardens to the Seattle Aquarium. Add in the Seahawks, Mariners and Sounds, and you will have never be bored.
The Outdoor Activities.
I have mentioned in previous posts that I love exercising outdoors and Seattle has plenty of places to do so. Whether it is running around Green Lake Park or visiting Alki Beach or going for a quick hike, there are no shortage of activities to do outside.
I am by no means a Seattle expert, but I have made sure to make the most of my trips to the great state of Washington. So…look out for my three-day guide to Seattle next week on the blog. Until next time… CB
