I honestly can’t believe I started this blog a year ago. It seems like yesterday I was sitting in my old apartment and deciding if I even want to start a blog and here I am a year later happy as ever that I did.
Commit to writing about the things I actually care about. Something I struggled with during the past year was deciding on what I wanted to write about. At times I felt like there were certain things I had to write about because so many amazing bloggers (that I look up to) were writing about those things. But I realized that if I just try to emulate what others are doing, I am not going to be happy with what I am putting out there. I need write about what I like and what fits into the brand I hope to create for this blog.
Get real about my struggles in life. I am inherently an extremely private person, which is pretty ironic I am aware. Besides loving to write, one of the reasons I started this blog was to challenge myself to open up more. I tend to bottle everything up and then never talk about the things I bottle up (super aware this isn’t the healthiest of habits). I will never be the person that puts absolutely everything on the table, but I can be more open about the challenges I am facing. Realistically there is someone out there struggling with something similar and if I can show that one person they are not alone, then I will be a happy camper.
Post consistently two to three times a week. This has always been my goal, but I have not done a great job of holding myself accountable. It has never been an issue of having something to write about, it has always been an issue of committing time to write the content. I want to get better about committing this time to writing. Partially because I want to have consistent content, but also because writing is something that brings me genuine happiness. Making sure I set aside time to write will just be good for the soul.
Improve the photography skills. I alluded to this in my last post, but I will go into more detail here. I genuinely like taking pictures, but have not always been the best at it. Over the next year I want to continue to hone my photography skills so can take higher quality and more interesting photos to post. I am even considering taking a photography course to help out, but if you have any ideas let me know if the comments!
These are my goals for the next year. I want to open up, build my brand by really showing what matters to me and be more consistent. Oh… and take better pictures! These goals seem so simple and self-explanatory, but I have a feeling they will be a bit more complicated than I expect. Another thing I want to start doing every month is talking about highlights for the previous month and things I am excited about. It’s never a bad thing to remind yourself of the good things in life, right?
Look out for those posts in the future. I am so excited to year two of this fun adventure. Until next time, friends… CB
