I announced the launch of Parties by Catie-Marie in the middle of February. I was so excited when this finally came to fruition and I was able to launch my little Etsy shop. I had been thinking and dreaming about it for months and the fact that I took the leap was such a big moment. I had poured countless hours into creating the products, designing branding materials and thinking about the future. While I do not have a huge line, I was so excited to launch the products that I did have.
Even before I had launched the shop, I was thinking about all of the other products that I wanted to create. So many items beyond wedding invitations and invitation inserts… I wanted to expand to a full line of paper products for weddings, baby shower products, birthday party decor and holiday decor.
But we are in a very different place than we were in at the middle of February. The fact is we are in the midst of a global pandemic. One that can be incredibly dangerous due to the silent nature of the illness for the first 14 days. The best way we can flatten the curve on this pandemic, is to stay away from other humans (a.k.a. social distancing).
The entire goal of my company is to bring people together and along them to create a festive and classic atmosphere at the events and holidays they host. In light of everything going on, I feel it would be irresponsible to continue to encourage people to host parties and gatherings. Given this, I will be temporarily closing Parties by Catie-Marie. I will assess the situation on a regular basis and reopen when I feel it would be responsible to do so.
I appreciate everyone’s understanding during this time. Hopefully we will be back up and running in no time. Until next time, friends… CML
I hope everyone has enjoyed the wedding posts so far. We started by talking through priorities and figuring out what you want your wedding to be. Then we talked about the wedding planning process. That was one of my favorite post to write as I am such a little planner. Now, I want to talk about go into more detail and talk through some of the mechanics of some aspects of the wedding. First up is the wedding party.

Last week I announced the launch of Parties by Catie-Marie! It is something I have been working on this for a while and was so excited to share this with everyone. It is something I have become so passionate about and hope others can benefit from that passion. I wanted to breakdown the products that were launched with the launch of the business. Each month I will be back to launch more products and walk you through them!

It has been a few months since our perfect day. I still think about it often and am so grateful for each part of it. It made all of the months of planning and stress and excitement fully worth it. As soon as Riley and I talked through what our priorities with the wedding would be, we jumped right in.
I am a planner to the fullest. In general, my process is to come up with a concept then think through all of the specifics until the concept becomes more realistic. Planning my wedding was no different. Riley and I talk through not only our priorities with the wedding were, but also how we wanted to feel, what we wanted to be incorporated and so much more. This was how our concept was created. I will admit, I wish Parties by Catie-Marie was around back when I was planning our wedding. While making the invitation inserts inspired the idea for the company, I realistically could have done so much more and hope to with my store.

As many of you may know, I got married this past August (you can read more about that magical day here, here, and here). It was such a huge learning process that ended with the most wonderful day. One of the many things I learned during the planning process was that wedding invitations are expensive and are in no way friendly to our environment. I could not believe the cost of a full invitation. Once you had all of the components, you were pushing $6-8 an invitation. Crazy!

Over the past couple of weeks (read months), I have talked a lot about our sweet love story. From our not so cute “meet cute,” to our falling in love, to each of us figuring out the other was their one, to the day he got down on one knee. I love our love story, it is my favorite one by far and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with my sweet man. But before I can do that, we have to plan that wedding thing. Lol.

October 6, 2018. The best day ever, well so far. It was a wonderful and busy and amazing and exciting day. But let’s go back a couple of days before.
The weekend we got engaged my parents were coming into town, so the whole week before I was running around trying to make sure our apartment was perfect for when they arrived. This was the first time my parents were visiting me in Seattle and the first time they were visiting Riley and I in our home together. There were many loads of laundry, vacuuming, mopping and oven cleaning (why did I think my mom would look INSIDE the oven?!). My parents are by no means critical, but I always feel this pressure when they come to visit.

The beginning of our relationship and a light in my life for a while. I talked about this in my 2018 post, but the beginning of 2018 (and really into the middle of the year) was rough for me. I talked about our Not So Meet Cute. Now I am going to tell you about how this new relationship was always something I could count on to be good. It was something that made the hard times just a little better.

To be honest, I was a bit nervous about posting this. I do try to be open, but also still want parts of my life to be private. However, this is a story that is just so close to my heart that I want to share.
