Educate Yourself | Listen

Educate Yourself | Listen

Welcome to another week of the “Educate Yourself” series. Up this week is podcasts. Personally, I love podcasts. I love the art of storytelling and being able to hear how people explain things. When doing research, I was excited to see how many podcasts there are out there. I know that this is not a comprehensive list and will definitely add to it over time. If you have a recommendation, please leave it in the comments!

Friday Five | Porch Picks

Friday Five | Porch Picks

As we are finally starting to gear up for summer here in the Pacific Northwest, I have been thinking about how I can give our patio a little refresh. I love that we have a covered porch, so really despite the weather we can be outside, but once it gets sunny and warm, that is the only place I want to be! We are starting to prepare for a remodel to our house and our deck getting moved, so I have been challenged to find things that can easily be moved to the new set up! Such exciting stuff!

How to Plan a Honeymoon

How to Plan a Honeymoon

I have to admit that one of my favorite parts of the planning process was actually planning our honeymoon. Don’t get me wrong, I loved planning the wedding but it was just different. There were times when it feels like you are planning the wedding for other people. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc. all have expectations of what your wedding will be. And realistically, they are all coming to this event for you, so it is kind to keep  them in mind when planning. But, the honeymoon. The honeymoon is different. The honeymoon is truly just for you and your special someone. I love traveling in general, so this was even more fun.

Setbacks

Setbacks

I knew when I started my journey toward wellness I would experience setbacks along the way. I would have great days that I was completely proud of and that made me feel fantastic. I would have other days that did not make me feel good and like I could have made better choices. I knew things wouldn’t be perfect and I knew I would stumble. My goal from the beginning was not give up when I did experience those setbacks. To let those times be just that, setbacks, not the end of my journey. Having come out the other side of my first setback, I am proud that I have not given up and that it isn’t the end of this journey for me.

Friday Five | Educate Yourself

Friday Five | Educate Yourself

Over the past few weeks I have been doing what I can to educate myself more on systemic racism and how that plays a role in essentially ever aspect our society. I truly believe in the power of education and feel there are so many people that could benefit from educating themselves on these topics. I have been working on compiling all of the resources, books, articles, videos, etc. that I have been finding to put into posts in the coming weeks. I wanted to share a preview of a few of the people and items that have had the biggest impact on me so far.

Styling Your Capsule Wardrobe Basics

Styling Your Capsule Wardrobe Basics

Last week I shared my take on a Capsule Wardrobe. When I was choosing the items to include in the capsule, I wanted to make sure that each piece was high quality and could be used in a variety of ways. Fast fashion has become a huge problem in our society, so finding high quality, timeless pieces is more important than ever. It is also a better option to find one high quality piece, than have to replace the piece more frequently. I also want to make sure the pieces can be used in a casual outfits, work outfits, as well as more dressy outfits.

My Hopes for 2020 | June Check-In

My Hopes for 2020 | June Check-In

My days, weeks and months continue to be a bit strange and nothing like what I had imagined of my 2020. While we dredged through another month of staying at home, I have started to get used to the new normal. It did lead me to really evaluate the goals I had set for myself and what still feels relevant. You may see some changes coming to this list, which was obviously not my intention but seems a bit necessary. I wrote this post prior to all of the major protests and cultural awakening. I plan to continue to post educational content regarding racial equality and systematic racism not only over the next week but in many of the weeks to come. I want to find ways to integrate this content into the content that I have posted in the past.

Friday Five | Skincare Favorites

Friday Five | Skincare Favorites

I have had pretty good skin my whole life, so taking care of my skin was not something I thought about for a long time. I finally started thinking about it when I got to college. I got really serious about it a few years as I entered my mid-twenties. Ever since, I have been obsessed with finding products that work for my skin and make me feel confident in that no make-up glow. I have tried a lot of things, but there are a few products I always fall back on. I wanted to share those today!
