I started Adventures of Catie-Marie in 2016 as a creative outlet from a stressful job and hectic life. I had recently moved 2,000+ miles from my home in Northern California to Memphis, Tennessee and was adapting to life as an independent, recent college graduate working in higher education. (Fun fact: the original name of my blog was The Young Professional.) So much of my life has changed since that time. I moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Seattle, Washington. I left working in higher education to work in the financial services industry. I got married, we bought a house, and adopted a dog (meet sweet Mickey here).
At the end of 2022 I turned 30. While I admittedly don’t feel much different, the milestone did make me take stock of my life and how it compared to the life I had always envisioned for myself. A healthy life, full of love, contentment, and adventure. A life filled with long weekends visiting new places. A core group of friends that I love fiercely. Strong connections to family that I can always count on. A comfortable and beautiful home. Feeling comfortable in my body and how I present myself to the world. And when I look back, I have always been working toward these things, even if I may not have been as focused in the past several years.
In the past, I was definitely more open with my personal thoughts and feeling. While I can’t say I won’t ever share those things in the future, I plan to focus on sharing the other things that I love… wondrous travel, classic style, splendid entertaining, and beautiful homes.
My life may not be perfect, and I am definitely still trying to figure things out, but that keeps things interesting. Thank you for joining me on this adventure…
