I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe. I loved putting one together and posting about it a couple of weeks ago. The one thing I have I have always struggled with in relation to the capsule wardrobe, is that I love seasonal clothes that really exemplify that season. The fun earrings in summer or sturdy boots in winter. But there are items that I wouldn’t necessarily put in a true capsule wardrobe because they can’t be used year round. So I decide to create my basic capsule wardrobe, then create mini capsules each season to add in fun seasonal pieces that may not work other times of the year.
Even though I just posted about my capsule wardrobe basics, I still really wanted to do a summer mini capsule. Because let’s be real, summer clothes are a lot of fun. They are colorful, classic and airy. They are fun to pick out and wear. I love the easy way a lot of them naturally match and create this fun little summer snapshot.

White Tank Top Blouse. My go to summer outfit is a white top and jeans or jean shorts (I live in Washington state, sometimes it is a bit chilly even in the summer). While I do have some white blouses in my main capsule, I love the idea of adding a simple white tank top blouse to round things out for those hotter summer days.

Colorful Blouse. Seeing as it is summer, it is the perfect time to bring on some color! I fun blouse that can go with white or dark wash jeans is the perfect option! I would try to find something that can be dressed up or down.

Blue & White Sleeveless Blouse. I love blue and white. In fact most of my house and much of my closet consists of a blue and white theme. It is also the perfect summer staple. For some reason, blue and white just screams summer to me! Maybe it reminds me of the beach. I love these tops because they can be worn with jean shorts and sandals during the day or with white jeans and espadrilles at night.

Denim Shorts. A true summer staple. While the the style of shorts that is “in” may change, I don’t think denim shorts will ever go out of style. Find a high quality pair that fits you really well is a great investment. You will definitely wear them all summer long!

White Shorts. Another summer staple. I wear my white shorts almost as much as I wear my denim shorts. This is another place to find a simple high quality pair that you can wear year after year.

Neutral Skirt. Sometimes you just got to dress things up a bit. Whether it is because you are going to brunch or just feeling it, a simple but cute skirt can do just the trick. To me a great summer skirt is one that is simple, but has fun details that scream summer. Whether that is a scalloped hem or a fun piping detail.

Colorful Dress. There is no better time a year than summer to break out the bright colored dresses. To me Lilly Pulitzer has the epitome of the summer dress. Fun bright patterns made into flowy and comfortable dresses.

Neutral Dress. This is one of my favorites for summer. A lightweight neutral dress. Something that is comfortable and breezy and can be worn on the hottest of days. Whether it is a classic white shirt dress or a simple navy blue shift, this is a piece that can be worn over and over again.

Wicker Handbag. One of my favorite ways to accessorize for summer is with a fun wicker handbag. It really just screams warm weather and fun. Whether you decide to invest in a handbag that will last for ever or find one that can double as a grocery and beach bag, you will not be disappointed!

Statement Earrings. I am a huge fan of statement earrings in general. To me it is one of the easiest ways to instantly upgrade an outfit. It shows that you put just a little more effort in and are just a little more into your outfit. A great pair of rattan earrings or acrylic flower earrings are a great option for summer.
Sun Hat. This is more of a practicality than a fashion statement in my opinion. Summer brings sun. Sun brings sunburns. Sunburns bring pain and potentially skin cancer. Aside from using sunscreen every day, investing in a sun hat for the days you will be out in the sun for long periods of time is a great idea!

Woven Rattia Flats. A fun way to make the office a little more summery. These flats are still totally work appropriate but can make you still feel like it is an easy breezy summer day. They are also a great option to throw on with your neutral dress while out running errands.
