One Item, Five Ways | White Button-Up

A white button-up is one of my go to items. One that I wear weekly, if not more than one time a week. It is such a classic item that can look good on anyone, really never goes out of style and is so versatile. I’ll wear one in the summer with denim shorts, in the fall with jeans and a vest, in the winter with a sweater and boots or in the spring with jeans, sandals and a straw fedora. I thought I’d share five outfit ideas for ways to style a classic white button-up shirt.

Outfit #1. This is a go to outfit for me throughout the fall. The falls around here are crisp, but not to cold, relatively sunny with the occasional rain storm. Layers are essential, as it can get a bit warm. I love that this outfit feels casual with the jeans and hat, while still being a bit dressed with with the collared shirt and loafers. This is my favorite thing to wear when I am out running errands!

Outfit #2. Occasionally there are meetings I have to go to in Seattle. I want to look nice, but not too dressed up. My go to is jeans with a blouse and blazer and just mix up each item, each time. These raw hem jeans are one of my favorite pairs and they go so well with the button-up. Adding the blazer and scarf just add a little something to the look. This could also be a great option for a more casual office!

Outfit #3. As we head into fall, I am becoming increasingly obsessed with fall. While I probably won’t be going out much this fall, I can still dream about great fall outfits. I put this one together with an afternoon of cider tasting with friends in mind. A comfortable outfit, that’s a bit dressed up and all fall. The crisp white shirt, the classic plaid skirt and the warm riding boots.

Outfit #4. I love layering in the fall and winter (evidenced my outfit #1, lol) so it tends to be a staple way for me to rewear items in different ways. I classic button up with a sweater over is also one of my favorite combos. White, camel and black is also a favorite fall/winter color combo. This outfit is the perfect option for running errands, grabbing coffee with a friend or a more casual work environment.

Outfit #5. I LOVE this option for the office. It is classic, easy to put together and comfortable. It can also be super versatile depending on your situation. Trade out the cardigan for a blazer if you work in a more formal environment. Trade out the cardigan for a cool leather jacket for dinner out. And so on. Such a sleek option!

This was one of my favorite posts to put together. I love finding new ways to use items in my closet. Recently my mindset has been changing from wanting a more trendy closet to wanting a higher quality, timeless closet. It is a change I am pretty excited about. Until next time, friends…CML
