Fall Capsule Wardrobe Additions

I can’t believe this is my third capsule of the year! Time keeps flying by way faster than I would like it to. If you missed my capsule wardrobe basics or summer additions, you can check them out here. I would be perfectly happy with the items in the capsule wardrobe basics, but love being able to find great seasonal staples to add in! Living in a place with real seasons (which I didn’t have growing up), you really have to think about the time of year when you are dressing.

For me, fall is all about neutral colors and classic patterns. This is the time of year for plaid, fall florals and shades of brown. My goal of this capsule was to find pieces that could elevate other items that are already in the capsule. I also wanted to add in pieces that really feel like fall and help transform those other items from spring or summer to fall. I can’t wait for my styling post to go up next week!

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3 | Option 4

Sleeveless or Thin Turtleneck. Once it starts getting cold out, I love wearing turtlenecks. I don’t know where this obsession came from, but here we are. I love a classic black, white or brown turtleneck as a staple in the fall or winter.

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3 | Option 4 | Option 5

Neutral Long-Sleeve Blouse. While I do already have a white-button up on this list, I think having an alternative long sleeve shirt is absolutely needed in the fall. Picking the right one, will increase your outfit options by so many!

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3 | Option 4 | Option 5

Print Long-Sleeve Blouse. Whether it is a stripe or a floral, having a couple of great printed blouses in your wardrobe is great. For fall, I like the idea of a neutral print to elevate some other items already in the capsule.

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3

Plaid Skirt. For me, plaid is the epitome of a fall pattern. I tend to wear a lot of plaid in the fall because it can be mixed and matched with neutrals for a slightly elevated look.

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3

Suede or Corduroy Pants. A neutral, but make it fun. I realized I only had a pair of blue jeans, a pair of white jeans and a pair of black pants in the capsule. I wanted a different pair of pants to round things out for fall and these were perfect!

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3 | Option 4

Plaid Blazer. A plaid blazer has been a staple in my wardrobe for a few years now. I love them for fall and into the winter as a way to dress up a pair of jeans or simple dress!

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3 | Option 4

Neutral Utility Jacket. Another favorite of mine! I have had an olive green utility dress in some form or fashion in my wardrobe for close to five years now. It is really perfect for fall, winter and summer!

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3

Solid Neutral Dress. We already have a black dress in the capsule, but I wanted something warm and tonal for fall. A dress with a rich warm color that can make a statement or blend in with more intricate items.

Option 1 (Currently sold out, similar here) | Option 2 | Option 3 | Option 4

Print Neutral Dress. Fall has some of my favorite prints of the year. You can’t go wrong with a fun animal print in my opinion!

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3

Gold Tone Earrings. I love having a pair of earrings that perfectly match each season. A set that can go with basically any outfit during that season!

Option 1 | Option 2

Felt Fedora. I love hats if you can’t tell by now. I think this is partially because I live in the Pacific Northwest, where it rains a lot. Through on a hat and you are at least partially saving your hair.

Option 1 | Option 2

Classic Satchel. I wanted to add a classic satchel that could be used for years and for a wide variety of occasions. You can’t go wrong with a timeless cognac or black satchel.

Option 1 (currently out of stock) | Option 2 | Option 3

Cognac Booties. Booties are a must for fall in Seattle. They quickly become the shoes I wear almost every day starting in about mid-September. These are so beautiful and can go with so much.

Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3

Black Mules. If I am not wearing booties in the fall, I am probably wearing loafers or loafer mules. I like the idea of a black loafer mule to balance out the cognac booties!

Fall is full of neutrals and classic patterns and is one of my favorite seasons to dress for. What is your favorite fall staple? Until next time, friends… CML
